World’s fastest 2.5-inch SSD

Samsung has announced about the development of world’s fastest 2.5-inch SSD. The new disk runs on SATA II interface, has a mammoth 256GB of space and is just 9.5mm thick. This SSD has a writing speed of 160MB/s and a reading speed of 200MB/s.
Samsung says that this disk has been developed on Multi Level Cell (MLC) technology and is as reliable as a Single Level Cell (SLC) SSD but costs less to produce it. The drives will also boast a data encryption process which will make it impossible for the data to get leaked.
These SSDs will go into mass production later this year.

Samsung’s Instinct, another iPhone competitor will be retailing from June 20 via Sprint. Sprint is reportedly spending millions to advertise Instinct and going by the specifications, the Instinct is surely ahead of Apple’s iconic phone. It has a 3.1-inch touchscreen with 3 buttons on the bottom of the handset. It has also got EV-DO, 2 megapixel camera, GPS and up to 8GB expandable memory.

Samsung Electronics has launched a new slim music player in the Hong Kong market. The YP-E3Q does everything one would expect from a player to do. It comes in 2GB of space with an OLED screen, FM Radio, DNSe, voice recording and MP3/WMA/ASF/OGG playback.
Battery life lasts around 11 hours and will be available in black color.

CHITEC 2008 saw a new laptop coming from Samsung’s stable. It’s the SENS R410 featuring a 14.1” display, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, ATI Radeon Xpress GPU, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, card reader. No word on pricing but China will be getting this little maestro.

Samsung gets touchy with F480

Big Sammy has announced a touchscreen phone which directly takes a shot against LG’s much touted Viewty. Known as the TouchWiz or in technical parlance as the SGH-F480, the phone has a screen tad smaller than Viewty but definitely looks more appealing than its counterpart. The Wiz has also got a mammoth 5 megapixel camera with AF, Image Stabilizer, Face Detection, Smile Shot etc. Other features include HSDPA, music player, 232MB internal memory plus microSD support up to 8GB, Bluetooth, Moblogging, PictBridge and a decent battery life of up to 3 hours.

The Korean giant unveils an eco-friendly hard drive, EcoGreen F1 which boasts up to 1 terabyte of space and yet consumes less power. According to Samsung, this drive consumes 15% less power than other low-powered 1 terabyte disks and 50% less than the conventional disks. It also features the trademarked SilentSeek & NoiseGuard technology which keeps the drive’s noise to optimum and ensures a speedy process because of the less number of moving parts. EcoGreen runs on 3 Gbps SATA interface at a speed of 5400 RPM.
The retail price of this drive is fixed at $199 and will be available soon in this quarter.
La Fleur T10 Special Edition PMP

Samsung has announced a special edition PMP for Korea. It is the La Fleur T10 Special Edition which boasts a new floral GUI to match the elegant looks of Yepp T10. And as with many special editions this is the only change it has while the rest of the specifications are the same. It has a 2-inch QVGA display capable of playing videos at a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, DNSe for better voice clarity, Bluetooth 2.0, FM Tuner and much more.
Samsung 2 ON with two SIM card slots

Samsung India has announced 2 ON handset capable of handling two SIM cards, one for the GSM and the other one for CDMA. Apart from its USP, the phone has a 2.3” TFT Touch Screen, 2 Mega Pixel camera, MicroSD Card Slot upto 1GB, MP3/ AAC+ Player and a 1200 mAh battery to power up 2 SIMs.
On the software front , the handset packs in Handwriting Recognition, File Viewer, Sketch Memo, Advanced Organiser Capability with Functional Screen and Special India Specific applications of Indian Calendar, Hinglish, Mobile Prayer and Panchang. It is priced at Rs. 16500 ($412).
Anycall L258 for Hong Kong

Samsung brings up a slim candybar phone Anycall L258 for the Hong Kong market. Segregating itself in the mid-range market, it targets users who fancy handwriting recognition. The phone’s rear is metallic silver with black color forming the exterior part. It comes with 2.3” QVGA display, microSD expansion availability, 2 megapixel camera, music player as well as FM Radio, Bluetooth with A2DP and its revolutionary track ball navigation. It will cost around US$280.
