PRAM to be launched in June

PRAM

Perfect RAM or Phase-change RAM may have missed the commercial launch of 2008 but Samsung is finally gearing up to release it for mass consumption in June after exhibiting it in the Ninth Next-Generation Semiconductor Forum in South Korea. Samsung will showcase a 512Mb (64MB) PRAM prototype at the forum.

For those who have missed the announcement in 2006, PRAM is nicknamed as Perfect RAM for having a fast operating speed of a conventional RAM combined with the non-volatile features of flash memory storage.

It is estimated to be 30 times faster and 10 times the life span of an average flash memory.

  1. Really? It is June already, maybe you can tell us the part number of that “Perfect RAM” and the price per chip (in quantity of 10,000). Please! Or, alternatively, maybe you can give us the URL of the datasheet, so we can verify whether this chip is indeed a “Pefect RAM” or a slow (in write), overpriced chip with poor density.
