Samsung develops 45nm Processor for CE products

Samsung is now sampling its 45nm application processor that aims to give more performance at lower power and cost for future consumer electronic devices. The S5P6440 uses CMOS process technology and is based on the ARM11 microarchitecture. The processor is based on ARM1176 CPU core that is able to run at a clock speed of 533MHz or 667MHz, 2D graphics acceleration compliant with OpenVG API, multi interface hardware IP like advanced NAND error correction, DRAM memory controller and OS support for Linux as well as Windows CE.

Samsung expects to start the volume shipment in Q3 2009.
