Furot II – Robot Vacuum Cleaner with integrated camera

Furot II

Samsung is showing a robot vacuum cleaner at the IFA that will ensure you won’t have to move an inch or oversee anything while it is performing its cleaning chore. Called as the Furot II, it has an integrated camera and Visionary Mapping System that allows the robot cleaner to see, think and remember.

Furot II uses its camera to determine its location and with the help of sensors it evades all the possible obstructions while moving from one room to another. A fully charged Furot II is able to clean the house for about 90 minutes (single charge) but in case the battery is running low, recharge it on the charging station and it will automatically resume cleaning from where it left. It even remembers to go back to the charging station when the battery is low again. There’s a manual mode too where the user can send Furot II back to its station by pressing a button on the remote.

As far as Furot II’s cleaning prowess is concerned, the 10cm long device is equipped with HEPA 11 filter, high suction power, two-sided brush to clean inaccessible areas and has an ultralow noise level.

  1. How much is it?

  2. Price is not yet out

  3. [...] Look out iRobot because Samsung is coming for you. Samsung has announced the Furot II robot vacuum cleaner. Not for sale yet, but just at first glance it looks like it’s got some features that are missing from the iRobot Roombas. The most obvious being that there’s actually a display built into the top. Second, it has two of the side brushes that brush stuff out of corners and from under overhangs. Not so obvious is that the Furot II has a camera and builds a map of the room its vacuuming. Like a Roomba, it comes with a charging station that it can find its way back to and dock with to recharge its batteries. They use HEPA 11 filters to filter out allergies. Finally, they’re supposed to be quiet and powerful. More details here. [...]

  12. Where I can buy it? Robert

  13. I heard that it will be available in Europe in early 2010.

  14. I have an IRobot Roomba and it works fairly decent. The only drawback is the(single) brush – It breaks often!

Cleaning the Roomba ( when it’s FULL) is a major challenge especially when you have pets. The hair gets twirled around the moving parts making it hard to removed. They should make a disposable bag for it. So when it is full, you just empty the bag and dispose it. Quick and painless.

  15. Looks like the price will be $399. If it is as cool as they are saying, I think that’s reasonable.

  16. iRobot completely rule the robot vacuum market so it’s always good to put them under pressure with a new competitor. This Samsung one is a looker as well!
